Drawing horses I know – Day 3 – Alert horses
During this 14 day challenge I will try to draw a horse I know every day.
Today, I decided to depict not one, but two horses in a single watercolour painting. The horses are Rinke (on the left) and Bounty (on the right). They are two unique horses who have become friends over the past year.
Bounty, an older mare, is more centred on animals and humans than on horses. She doesn’t mind cats or dogs around her, but if other horses get too near, she tells them to stay away. She is very dominant around other horses.
Rinke is a young gelding. He is a very social animal who has actively sought contact with Bounty for the past year. He loves being groomed by people and also enjoys cuddling with his fellow horses.
Now, over a year later they are good friends, who stand peacefully together in the meadow, who neigh at each other when one is returning to the stable, and, like in this drawing, stand on the lookout together in the paddock.
